Origins of Tinsukia:-

When we begin with the origins, the ancient name of Tinsukia was Bangmara which was originally known as Changmai Pathar. It was the capital of Muttack Kingdom. The Bangmara city was built by King Sarbananda Singha with the help of his Minister Gopinath Barbaruah alias “Godha”. The city was built in the middle of the present Tinsukia City (near the Senairam H.S. School). As per the direction of Sarbananda Singha, Godha Baruah dug a triangular shaped pond in Bangmara which is known as "Tinikunia Pukhuri". In 1884 Dibru-Sadiya Rail line was constructed and a station was setup near the "Tinikunia Pukhuri" which was named as Tinsukia. Since then the City was popularly known as Tinsukia. The First King of Muttack Kingdom was Swargadeo Sarbananda Singha. Sarbananada Singha established his capital at Rangagarah situated in the bank of river Guijan. In 1791 A.D. he transferred his capital to Bangmara (present Tinsukia).

Rethink the present and always remember the past

Technically it is a blog; however I would rather term it as an expression of my thoughts with the help of letters. I am not trying to inform people about the uniqueness of Tinsukia district of Assam. I am trying to urge people to rethink on their present responsibilities towards the place which are hindered due to various professional and personal commitments. It is just a thought process and criticisms and feedback's are very important at any juncture.

What could be achieved?

There are end number of things which could be portrayed and worked upon to transform this strategically located district of Assam. As per claims, Tinsukia district is the business capital for the State of Assam. Rich in culture, natural resources, tourism, history, ethnicity and the list could go on and on. However, realization of the immense potential has to be catered by none other than the intellectuals and the upcoming youth to take the legacy forward. I have concentrated on intellectual growth and understanding of the importance of information which may lack to acquire or share. Material growth should be avoided in many instances to realize the importance of the growth of a state, community and intellect. This is what I think could be achieved. I welcome and encourage everyone to understand the importance of going beyond material well being. Material growth should be considered as a perquisite for sustaining a lifestyle. Food for thought!!!!

The Gift

The idea is to recognize the importance of culture, tourism, industries, natural resources, origin and improvements of the district. Any basic information that we document could  help people learn and improvise with the gifted district. I have tried to gather as much as information and further need as lot more to add to the blog. The potential of this district knows no bounds and has been developing at a good pace. However a few more hands could add up to the already developing district and moving forward.
